Going Green
RiverEast Center is saving the earth one design element at a time:
The innovative public plaza is the first shared “green street” in Portland to treat stormwater from both public and private runoff sources.
The southern "solar wall", with double glass panels and light shelves, heats the building in the winter and reduces heat gain in the summer.
Energy-saving reflective white roof.
Solar heating.
100% green power.
Passive cooling in public lobby.
Over 95% of the construction waste was recycled and concrete removed during the construction process was reused as plaza sculptures.
